Bob Sinclar - Soundz Of Freedom [2007]

I used to like Bob Sinclar’s early dance music, especially his “Champs Elysees” from the late nineties and the “Cerrone By Bob Sinclar” Cd’s but his new stuff is just plain mediocre. I didn’t care for his overrated massive hits “Love Generation” and “World Hold On”. This latest offering titled “Soundz Of Freedom” starts off with the annoying reggae house track “Sound Of Freedom” that uses Rozalla’s 1991 dance hit “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)” as it’s main hook. The reggae vocals totally ruin the track and after a minute got on my nerves. Mixing directly into the second track “Rock This” you get more annoying reggae vocals and this time around, a sampling of C&C Music Factory’s hit “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)”. The third track “What I Want” is a house track with a hook that sounds so rediculously childish I almost just took the cd out of my player in disgust. Track four entitled “Hard” is a redundant house track with vocals that remind of The Village People. It isn’t until you get to track six “Kiss My Eyes” (Clubguys Remix) that things get better and atleast you get a song thats over four minutes long. Sinclar’s 2000 hit “Feel For You” is next up and is remixed by Axwell but this pales in comparison to the original club mix. Tracks seven and eight are the same song “Everybody Movin’” (the first remixed by K. Maverik & K. Thoneick and the later by Guy Schreiner). There was only need for one remix not several back to back! Track nine “Ultimate Funk” is an eighties retro track with a house beat. One word to describe this song - BORING! Track Ten is “The Beat Goes On” remixed by Mousse T and is a redundant disco style house track. The best song on the entire disc is the Jamie Lewis Remix of the “Champs Elysees Theme”, very seventies Cerrone style Euro disco. The remaining tracks “Tribute”, “Together” and “Give A Lil’ Love” are just average house tracks and nothing write home about! There’s also a bonus dvd included that includes videos and Sinclar’s tour in different countries and a sampling of the 2007 Winter Music Conference in Miami, Fl.). I’ll be selling my copy of “Soundz Of Freedom” to my local used cd store. An all around disappointing cd from the French artist/DJ.
